Case Studies

St Helens School

Vassell’s was approached to carry out in-depth survey on the full operation on all mechanical and ventilation equipment throughout a newly built building.

The client was experiencing some significant problems throughout the ventilation system within each department. Some of the basic fundamentals were undermined throughout the installation. Due to the poor installation, it was absolutely imperative that we propose a satisfactory solution in order to increase performance and reduce the building’s carbon footprint.

Our approach to this was to undertake a detailed survey, step-by-step analysing and extracting all data from the building management system.

Our investigation revealed that there were several radiant heat plates within different departments not operating at their maximum capacity. Therefore, the heat recovery unit was operating inefficiently.

Once we had carried out significant alteration to the system and reprogrammed the building management system, we were then able to achieve a 95% increase in energy efficiency. This project took us approximately three months. The study has showed us that by understanding our client’s needs and working closely with them, we can then achieve the overall common objective.

Based on our overall performance, the client was very pleased with the service we delivered and we were then appointed as the principal contractor throughout St Helen’s entire site.

“I am overall very impressed by their professionalism, expertise and commitment to excellent customer service”
